Alfred Heller, DDS, M. S., has placed more than 20,000 implants since 1969. He earned his DDS (1962) and M. S. (1974) from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He is an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID). He also served on the Admissions and Credentials Board of AAID for seven years. In 1980, he founded the Midwest Implant Institute (MII). He is Board Certified in Oral Implantology by the American Board of Oral Implantology. Additionally, Dr. Heller has served as President of the American Board of Oral Implantology(ABOI).
The Midwest Implant Institute (MII) is built on a foundation of presenting material from introduction level to the most advanced in implant surgery and related prosthetics, all while the students perform surgery on their own patients. Over 1000 Externs of MII have continued to bring their own patients to perform live surgery. Dr. Heller has lectured on topics regarding all aspects of implant dentistry for over 30 years within the institute and for multiple other implant oriented organizations in all corners of the United States of America.
Dr. Heller's participation with implant research has enabled him to advance and develop the field of implant surgery. Dr. Heller has completed two FDA studies associated with dental implants and bone grafting materials. Dr. Heller has taught hands-on dental implant surgery post-graduate courses in eight American dental colleges. He and the Midwest Implant Faculty teach all different implant modalities as Dr. Heller believes that, "Bone dictates the type of implant to be used that will best serve the patient."
Dr. Heller is a graduate of The Ohio State University School of Dentistry (1988). He completed his prosthodontics residency at The Medical College of Virginia (1990) and completed his hospital based implant residency/graduate training at Loma Linden University, CA in 1997.
Dr. Heller currently serves as Co-Director of the Midwest Implant Institute (MII). The Midwest Implant Institute helped seven Dental Schools develop their dental implant program and has taught thousands of doctors to become dental implant surgeons. Dr. Heller has trained these doctors in the hands-on externship of the Midwest Implant Institute, providing individualized surgical instruction to the doctor and their staff.
Since 1997, he has taught and surgically performed numerous courses ranging from implant placement to advanced bone grafting, lateral nerve repositioning, sinus elevation and numerous other surgical procedures. He continues to lecture on a national scale for multiple organizations, including the American Academy of Implant Dentistry(AAID) and Rutkowski Seminars.
Dr. Heller has extensive experience with dental implants, having placed more than 8,000. A noted author and speaker, he has lectured on dental implants both nationally and internationally. Dr. Heller maintains a private practice oriented to implant surgery and related prosthetics for nearly 25 years. He believes that the patient is the purpose of his restorative practice. Up-front discussion with patients about their treatment plan and fees standardize Dr. Rob’s practice and further his goal to provide the highest possible quality of dental care.
Eric Nunnally began working in his father’s dental laboratory at the age of 16. He went on to earn a degree in laboratory technology in 1999 and a bachelor’s degree in business management in 2003. Afterwards, he worked at Derby Dental Laboratory and received his CDT and TE in 2007. After years in the laboratory business, Dr. Nunnally returned to school to pursue his true calling in dentistry. He graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, receiving his Doctorate in Medical Dentistry in 2013, where he was class president. He is an American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) member and has completed multiple surgical and implant training programs. Dr. Nunnally completed a residency training program in conscious IV sedation in Dayton, OH, from the Academy of Dental and Medical Anesthesia.
Dr. Nunnally is the Co-Director of Midwest Implant Institute of Louisville. He is a surgical extern graduate and Fellow of the Midwest Implant Institute. He owns a private practice, Triple Crown Dentistry, and an implant specialty division called Louisville Dental Implants. In the Winter of 2020, Dr. Nunnally opened a satellite campus of the Midwest Implant Institutewhich will provide attendees the ability to watch and perform live surgeries in a comfortable and high-tech setting.
Dr. Nunnally lectures across the nation on various aspects of dentistry and dental laboratory technology, though his focus is teaching GP’s to perform dental implant surgeries. He has a true passion for dental implants and feels strongly that the dental community needs quality instruction so that patients receive the level of care they deserve. He has been published numerous times in both dental and dental laboratory publications and serves as a liaison between the dental and dental laboratory industries. Dr. Nunnally dedicates himself to staying on the forefront of both industries to serve his patients with the most sophisticated and advanced techniques.
Dr. Thomas Bilski received a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1984. He then earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry in 1988. Dr. Bilski followed by completing training of the Conscious IV Sedation Program at the Miami Valley Hospital in 1993.
Dr. Bilski is the Co-Director of the Midwest Implant Institute. Additionally, he is a graduate and a Honored Fellow of the Midwest Implant Institute. He is an American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) member and is recognized by International Association of Dentists being included into Leading Physicians of the World 2014-2015; inclusion is limited to those individuals who have demonstrated leadership and achievement in the field of dentistry.
Dr. Bilski is published in numerous articles and is a lecturer/Key Opinion Leader, Luminary Status, in organizations such as Center for Oral and Systemic Health and multiple implant based companies. He has trained in numerous surgical and restorative programs, such as the Pinhole Surgical Technique, (PST…trained by Dr. John Chao). Dr. Bilski is a licensed international provider (one of 500 doctors in the world trained and licensed to provide the PST surgery as a non cutting and suturing surgical technique). Trudenta, Migraine and Mandibular-sensory rehabilitation, Carolinas Periodantal Plastic Surgery, Provánce Composite Veneers (Lead Clinical Director) and many others.
For over 27 years, Dr. Bilski has maintained a implant and cosmetic restorative based practice that encases simple and complex aspects of dentistry.
Dr. Rutkowski is originally from Meadville, PA. He graduated from the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. He then earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1976 and a PhD in Pharmacology from Duquesne University in 2008.
Dr. Rutkowski is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (ABOI/ID) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID). He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Oral Implantology (JOI) and a Past-President of the ABOI/ID. He lectures internationally on bone grafting, surgical anatomy for implant dentistry, pharmacology, and sedation techniques. Dr. Rutkowski has maintained a dental implant practice in Clarion, Pennsylvania for 31 years, where he passionately restores his patients’ ability to chew and smile with confidence.
2012 Isaih Lew Research Award Recipient
The Isaih Lew Memorial Research Award is presented by the AAID Foundation to one individual each year who has contributed significantly to research in implant dentistry. Dr. Lew was a founding member of the AAID and served as its president and the editor of the Journal of Oral Implantology.
2009 Aaron Gershkoff Memorial Award Recipient
The Gershkoff Award (now Gershkoff-Goldberg Award) is presented by the AAID Past Presidents’ Council to one individual each year who exemplifies the commitment by Aaron Gershkoff and Norman Goldberg to implant dentistry. Dr. Gershkoff and Dr. Goldberg were cofounders and initial presidents of the AAID.
