Implant Dentistry, like any specialized area of dentistry, carries with it the possibility of having a less-than-desired result. Whether it be that the bone density was not sufficient to allow for supportive osseointergration of an implant or that bone starts to recede away from the neck of the implant during healing. Perhaps a very successful implant of many years becomes a “crippled implant” because an abutment screw fractured or the implant itself fractures allowing for crown movement. This course will cover the pre-operative evaluation of compromised bone, the treatment of simple to complex cases, and the handling of post-operative successful implants that develop “problems that need attention".
